Small Sprig with Pink flowers

Hi Crafter's

This is my second post and my second entry into the Simply Less is More challenge. I couldn't leave it alone and had to have another go. This time I kept it really simple ( bit like me...LOL )
I used the Small Sprig stamp from Clarity Stamps again. I stamped it three times to create the panel within an embossed border.
I then drew in the pink flowers with my Zig Art & Graphic twin tip pen, put in some faux stitching around the inside of the border with a black pen and then wrote Thank you just beneath my floral panel. Oh nearly forgot I went around all the flowers with a semi soft pencil to define them a bit and smudged the pencil with my finger so it wouldn't be to harsh.

This card took me all of twenty minuets to complete and I am much happier with my effort.

Well I hope I haven't board you too much. Thank you for visiting and I will be back soon with another card. TTFN.

Purple flowers

Hi Crafter's

I hope you are all well and enjoying the fine weather we are having this morning.
I have not long got back in after taking the dog for his walk. It was a bit on the cool side just nice for a brisk walk, we went over the fields to Mapperley village then down into Shiply park. We stopped for a coffee at Derby lodge and then back home again via Bell Lane. On part of the walk we go through some woods, I love that part with all the birds singing in the trees. And if I'm lucky I don't see another sole until we get into Shiply Park, today was one of those mornings.

Well onto today's cards.
Have you ever wished you hadn't started something........ I have.......This weeks Challenge  at the Less is More web site..... LOL
The challenge this week is a one layer card and the theme this week is DOODLING...

Oh goody gum drops I thought. I can get out my Zig Art & Graphic twin tip pens for this one. Not because I can draw  but because they make drawing flowers a doddle. And so a card idea formed in my head. So off I went creating my card....
Here is the card I made.
Then I read the challenge again....... It said a ONE LAYER CARD!!!!  I have LAYERS in this card RATS!!!!! I have to start again.

Three cards later, and all in the bin, for one reason or another I managed this one....

This card didn't look like the one in my head though.
I drew the flowers with my Zig Art pens and then stamped the leaves but I don't like the finished result and I don't know why...... So I had to have another try.
This time I used a different stamp a Clarity stamp  "small sprig".
I drew the line of flowers first then traced them onto a scrap of paper and masked them off then stamped around them. I then drew in the other flowers after.  I'm still not happy with my efforts but this card is a little bit like the original one I had in my head.

I am beginning to wish I hadn't started this or tried something simpler..... But you know in my noggin  IT WAS SO SIMPLE....... ARRRRGGGGG........
Five hours...... FIVE hours I  spent yesterday trying to get the card I wanted .... So in the end I  gave up.... it had beaten me.
All I can say though, is,  I have had a go, and  have enjoyed playing along .

Well that's it for this post. I am off now to have a look at all the lovely cards that have been created by all the other LIM'etts

I will be back soon with another card or two. Thank you for stopping by TTFN.

Shades of Green

Hi Crafter's

Even though we have had snow this week, spring is defiantly on it's way. Evey where I look there are shades of green as new shoots start sprouting.

I went over to the Less Is More web site and the challenge for this week is ...... Three Shades of Green.

Well by chance I had made this card last night that didn't quite fit the bill....

So I remade it.....
Both cards are made the same way just finished slightly different.

Here is what I did.
Using a Crafters Workshop 6x6  Mini Harlequin template I covered a portion of my card with the template and sponged Vaseline into all the open spaces.
Really rub the Vaseline into the card you don't want any clumps of it any where. If you have, you have applied too much. You need to treat it as if it is an ink.
I then removed the stencil and then sponged green Memento ( Bamboo Leaves ) over the area again, making sure not to get in on the  portion of the card I wanted to stay white.

Using the Bamboo Leaves I coloured a 1cm strip of card and then made a faux bow and then stamped the greeting in the same ink.
I know I have only used one colour ink but I have managed to get three shades from it.

For the first card  I used Ribbon to trim the card and stamped the greeting in brown.

I like using Vaseline as a resist, you get a nice distressed look.

Well I hope you like my entry. Thank you for dropping by. Hope to see you again soon with another card.

Butterflies in Spring????

Hi Crafter's

O M G  what has happened to the weather. It is snowing, cold, wet  and horrible. And couldn't be more different to yesterday. Trouble with snow this time of year is it turns to slush and looks yuck. I don't mind snow but I hate cold wet SLUSH...

I bet the Robin nesting in our garden isn't happy with the weather either......poor little thing..... Sunday when we looked in the nest she had 4 eggs. I will have to get a photo of her on the nest to show you.

Oh well on to my card.
I made this for a customer yesterday. It didn't seem out of place then
.I don't think there will be many butterflies flying around today some how.
The name was cut using the Pazzles Insparation and the butterflies were punched out with Martha Stewart's punches.

Well that's all for this post. Thank you for visiting. Hope you enjoyed it and I will see you again soon with another card.

Oh baby

Hi Crafter's

Well the weather to to day has been beautiful and a lovely day for walking. I do hope it has been as good where you are.
I walked over the fields near where I live with our dog Dan. We went the long way round to Shipley park Via Mapperly and back again a distance of about eight miles or so. Unfortunately I didn't take may camera with me. When we got up into the woods at Shipley park I could see Blue Bells starting to make an appearance. Hopefully there should be a brilliant display in the next couple of weeks.

And now on to this weeks cards.
I have been playing with these adorable Marianne design cutting dies.

This card was made for a customer I was asked to make a card for a baby girl.  I was asked if she could have butterflies on it so this is what I came up with.

I cut the word Baby out in a pink pearlesant card stock. The butterflies are from a Martha Stewart punch, the wording is computer generated.

This card I used the same die but this time I used a tan mat in the cutting sandwich so it would emboss instead of cut. After embossing I sponged the shape with broken china distress ink.

For this card I used a cameo die, I cut it out of the same card stock as the card and cut the back ground for it from blue pearlesant card.  The shape for the back ground I had to draw around the cameo and cut out with a pair of scissors. I was quite pleased with the result. I finished it off with a folded bow. The embossing around the edge of the card was done on the Hougie board.

Well that's all for this post. Thank you for visiting and I will see you soon with another card.
