Day at the NEC Hobbycrafts show

Hi Crafter's
I went to the NEC yesterday  with a few ladies from our craft class Sharon, Diana, Vera and Ann. and a lovely day was had by all.  Our feet were aching by the end of the day though

Sharon and Ann had a go on the tombola but I only managed to get a photo of Ann.

Watched a demo by the lovely Barbara  Grey.

Security was a bit excessive I thought.

He looks a bit scary, don't you think?  I hadn't done anything wrong..... Honest....

Well all in all we had a lovely day. Thank you for visiting and I will see you again soon.

What ever will be... Will be.

Hi Crafters,

It's amazing sometimes you start a project with an idea in your head and you even know how it is going to look when finished. But what you end up with is nothing like you imagined it to be.

This is one of those times. I had just been having a look at a challenge blog and the challenge was a sketch.
I liked the sketch so thought I'd have a go, and an idea popped into my head. I thought to my self "Right here we go, I'm going to enjoy this, I know what I want to do" .
And so I made my card but it bares no resemblance to the card I had in my head what so ever. So I think my hands must have a mind of their own.  LOL
I hadn't even noticed it wasn't going the way I wanted it.

And here are the cards I had made.
I started by stamping the Art nouveau large corner stamp from Clarity Stamps in two corners.
Next I made the flower which is just circles scrunched up and then put together with a brad.(See my easy paper flower tutorial HERE
Next I made the stem which is in sections and the leaves are the wings of a butterfly.
I finished the card of with some gems and a couple of butterfly's punched out of the same paper the flowers are made from.
I enjoyed making these and I like how they turned out, even though they aren't what I had in mind.

Maybe the next card I make will be the one I was going to make this time.
Well that's all for now. Thank you for visiting , see you again soon.

Flutterby Butterfly

Hi Crafter's,

How has your weekend been?
I hope you  had a much better weekend than I have had. I spent most of it in bed feeling sorry for my self and sleeping. I had a tummy bug that knocked me sideways. I felt really poorly, I can't remember the last time I felt that ill. Fortunately it was only one of those 48 hour bugs and I am feeling much better now, thank goodness. My appetite is not back to normal yet 'cos my stomach still feels rather tender. Oh well I still need to loose a couple of pounds....LOL

Any way before the stomach bug took hold I had managed to make a couple of cards with... yes you have guessed it... my new Clarity Stamps.

I made one like this for a friend.
This one the Happy Birthday is stamped a tiny bit wonky and there are a couple of speckles on the card that shouldn't be there. So I made the card again and kept this one as a sample.
I used the same Leafy Swirl stamp as I did in the Mothers Day Leafy Swirl post.
This time though I only stamped it twice, back to back, down the folded edge of the card.
I stamped the butterfly twice, once on the card and once onto some spare card, coloured them both and cut out the spare one and the placed it on top of the other

In this next card I have used the same butterfly stamp.
But this time I have teamed it with the Honeysuckle Corner stamp. The ink pad is versa magic tea leaves. The card stock is a pearlesent green, which is a bit of a departure for me because I mostly use white or cream for my cards.
Well I hope you like them and thank you for visiting. See you again soon

I'm off now to cos it's Handmade Monday week 8, to see what other crafters in blog land have been doing over the last week.

Handmade Monday week 7

Hi Crafter's

It's Handmade Monday again. I missed last weeks, I completely forgot because I was getting the shop ready for a new stand that my husband had made to hold  Clarity stamps. The new stand looks fab he made a wonderful job of it. Where would I be with out him.
Since the stamps have come in I have been busy making cards. I just couldn't wait to get my hands on them and start working with 'em.

If you scroll down you will see two other cards I have made using these stamps. They are a joy to use.

This is one of the first cards I made . I thought I would start off simple and get a feel for the stamps.

First Of all I stamped the flower word stamp onto my card blank
I want to make a mask so I stamp it  again onto some copy paper. I then cut away the centre of the O  in the copy paper version and place this over the stamping on the card lining up the O middle.

Now I can stamp another image into the letter O, here I have used " wild poppies"
With the mask still in place I sponged around the inside edges of the O to soften the look.

I then masked off the card top and bottom so that I could keep those parts clean  and then sponged the areas top and bottom of the FLOWER.

Take away all the masking to reveal the almost finished card.
To finish I touched up the stems of the poppies, the letter O and the sponging across the card with a brown fine liner pen.
I also embossed a scalloped border top and bottom of the card but you can't see it very well in the photo.

Well that's what I've been up to for the past week , now I'm off to Wendy's blog at to see what others are up to.

That's all for now thank you for visiting. I will see you again soon.

Silver Birch Clarity Stamps.

Hi Crafter's,

New arrivals in the shop last week. The award winning Clarity stamps.
I was so exited when they arrived on Tuesday it was like Christmas all over again.
My darling Husband Grahame, made me a beautiful  stand to display them. And I have to say it looks fantastic.

Well as you can guess I couldn't wait to get started with them.
Here is one I have done using the Silver Birch  stamp.
This card was inspired by my walk home from the shop a couple of weeks ago. As I approached home the sun was a red ball, low in the sky, it was a cloudless blue sky with just a hint of red on the horizon.
I stamped the trees onto my card then stamped it again onto copy paper to create a mask. I then went to work sponging in  the background.
This is my second attempt at this card. the first one I made I ruined because I stamped some leaves on and they just didn't look right. So this time I left them off and I was much happier with it.

Other stamps used in this card are also from Clarity stamps  and they are flock of birds and wild poppies.

I also embossed a double frame around the finished picture with the Hougie board.

Well that's all for now, I hope you like it.
Thank you for visiting and I will see you again soon with another card.

Mothers Day Leafy Swirl

Hi Crafter's,

Here is a little card I made for the Less is more weekly challenge. It is week 6 and the brief this week is to make a one layer card with the main image off the edge of the card and no score lines.

One layer I can do, stamping off the edge of the card no problem........ BUT NO SCORE LINES....... Shock Horror I can't do that....... I love texture on my cards..... What am I going to do?????? LOL

For  this card I used a Clarity stamp, "Leafy Swirl"  I stamped it with distress ink "Worn Lipstick"
I repeated the stamp in a circle. at first I didn't think it was going to work and nearly threw it in the bin but luckily I told myself to finish it, and I'm glad I did.
I stamped the small black circle in the middle with the rubber on the end of a pencil. I just finished off the card with a plain simple mothers day stamp, stamped in black.
And not one little bit of embossing any where, gosh that is soooooo alien to me.... LOL

Well I hope you like it. Thank you for stopping by to take a look. I'll see you again soon.

Just 3 Squares ... Take 2

Hi Crafter's

I don't know why the challenge at the Less is More blog site has been bugging me this week. I can't stop thinking about this one so I have had to do another card.

This time I have made my self a square mask and used it to sponge through. The idea came from Ikki at Ikki's Cuttlebug cupboard  and has done a fab tutorial on how.

Here is my second card.

I sponged first with Distress ink Worn lipstick, then with brushed corduroy over the top.
I then drew around the squares with a brown pencil to make them stand out more.
I stamped the butterfly's onto the design and onto a spare piece of card, coloured them and cut them out to give the card a bit of dimension.
The squares looked a bit empty so I used the mask again and stamped a floral image with the brushed corduroy.
I really enjoyed making this one. I used stamps that had been in my cupboard and never used. I had bought them back in the day when I first started out and didn't get to grips with stamping cos I didn't have a clue about what I was doing so gave up with it. I got back into stamping a couple of years ago and love it now.

Well I hope I've got that out of my system now .....LOL . Hope you like it.
That's all for this post. Thank you for visiting and I will see you soon with another card.
